VMR Residence
An urban sanctuary at the intersection of the city and nature in Hong Kong’s Mid-levels – British designer Studio Ella has transformed the high-rise apartment (1,100 sq ft) into a microcosm of Hong Kong, with a mix of textures that create contrast between the city and nature.
About
Designed for a young professional, the interior strikes a balance between tranquillity, functionality and warmth that is well suited to the demands of modern life. Characterised by an acute sense of detail and craftsmanship, while retaining a feeling of warmth, the designer established a refined material palette focusing on texture against a muted backdrop to achieve timelessness and simplicity.
The project features some of our key furniture pieces including &Tradition’s Develius sofa and coffee table, the footstool and table lamp from Frama, styled with the sculptural art objects from Audo and Ephelis. The walls and ceiling were painted with St Leo’s Original Pigments in light, creamy eggshell white (Osylei) and a bright and versatile warm beige (Rue Reaumur). The custom bookshelf with woven joint detail inspired by Japanese joinery was accentuated with St Leo’s Original Pigments’ sandstone colour with subtle touches of green and yellow (Koornmarkt), strengthening the home’s connection to nature.
