House of Soil
In a world saturated with visual distractions, interior design firm Soil Studio founders Alex and OJ’s award-winning home in Zhongshan, China, stands as a sanctuary promoting a holistic lifestyle enriched by multi-sensory experiences.
About
House of Soil unfolds as a living narrative, the space is shaped by intention and filled with found objects and handcrafted works created with collaborators across their travels.
Each detail invites pause: Balinese teak, Japanese wood, antique fabrics, and different lighting in natural materials harmonise the home’s evolving zones — from a dark timber‑veneered entrance to a serene seating area anchored by Gubi’s Grace Lounge Chair in Rattan.
Light extends this tactility through linen, paper, and clay, gently diffused by Audo’s Hashira Table Lamp, Santa & Cole’s portable Basica Lamp, and a bespoke Ephelis wall lamp in ceramics. In unity, these materials cast a warm, grounded glow that defines the apartment’s calm, contemplative rhythm.
This apartment embodies the ethos of Soil Studio, a practice rooted in spirituality, wellness, nature, and sustainability.
